Predicted Manchester United lineup vs Nottingham Forest

Manchester United resume their Premier League duties on Tuesday night when they travel to the City Ground to face Nottingham Forest.

Ruben Amorim and Co. are looking to win back-to-back Premier League matches for the first time this season, having entered the March international break off the back of a 3-0 success at Leicester City. Before that, they smashed Real Sociedad 4-1 in the second leg of their last-16 Europa League clash at Old Trafford, setting up a quarter-final meeting with Lyon.

There is no getting away from the fact that it has been an incredibly difficult season for the Red Devils, but their last two performances would have raised confidence heading into the game at Nottingham Forest, who are 17 points ahead of their opponents.

Manchester United Team News

Ruben Amorim received some positive update on the injury front, at the end of last week, with Harry Maguire, Leny Yoro, Luke Shaw, Altay Bayindir and Tom Heaton all available for selection.

Patrick Dorgu has now served a domestic suspension and will also be in the squad, but Amad Diallo, Ayden Heaven and Jonny Evans are ruled out for the fixture.

Predicted Manchester United lineup vs Nottingham Forest (3-4-2-1)

football formations

Goalkeeper

Andre Onana is Man United’s undisputed No.1 and should start at City Ground.

Defence

In front of Onana, Man United should line up in a 3-4-2-1 formation once again. Harry Maguire is fit again and should slot in alongside Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui at the back. The England international will probably take the central centre-back role, with De Ligt and Mazraoui operating beside him.

The trio have to be switched on from the first blow of the whistle until the last to keep an exciting Nottingham Forest attack quiet. Leny Yoro and Victor Lindelof should offer cover for defensive positions.

Midfield

Back after serving a three-game suspension, Patrick Dorgu slots in straight at left wing-back with Diogo Dalot operating from the opposite wing-back role. They will be key in stretching the home side with their pace, energy and crossing ability.

Bruno Fernandes has been in fantastic form of late and will reprise his deeper role alongside Manuel Ugarte in the middle of the park. With Ugarte screening the backline, Fernandes will focus on creating opportunities in the final third for the front three. Casemiro, Christian Eriksen and Toby Collyer could be called upon in the second half to add more muscle and energy in midfield if required.

Attack

Rasmus Hojlund and Alejandro Garnacho ended their goalscoring droughts against Leicester before the international break and should start here. They will be joined by Joshua Zirkzee, who has been the most improved player at the club under Amorim.
