France booked their place in the FIFA World Cup 2026 semi-finals after defeating Morocco 2-0 in the quarter-finals. Didier Deschamps’ side produced another composed display as goals from Kylian Mbappé and Ousmane Dembélé secured Les Bleus another place among the final four.

France Beat Morocco to Secure Semi-final Spot

Eager to build on their hard-fought Round of 16 victory over Paraguay, France immediately took control of proceedings from kick-off. Les Bleus dominated possession and dictated the tempo throughout the match, while Morocco struggled to establish any sustained attacking rhythm.

France could have taken the lead before half-time if not for another outstanding performance from Yassine Bounou. The experienced goalkeeper produced several crucial saves to frustrate Les Bleus, including denying Kylian Mbappé from the penalty spot.

Bounou continued his impressive display early in the second half, but France finally found the breakthrough on the hour mark. Mbappé curled a superb effort into the net to give Deschamps’ side a deserved lead.

Only six minutes later, Les Bleus doubled their advantage as Ousmane Dembélé fired a low strike from outside the penalty area that beat Bounou.

Les Blues to Face Spain or Belgium

Morocco attempted to fight their way back into the contest but struggled to create meaningful opportunities. Instead, the Atlas Lions were fortunate not to concede additional goals as France continued to create dangerous chances during the closing stages.

Ultimately, Les Bleus comfortably secured a 2-0 victory to reach another FIFA World Cup semi-final. It marks France’s third consecutive appearance at this stage after lifting the trophy in 2018, finishing runners-up in 2022, and now reaching the final four again in 2026.

France will now face the winner of Belgium vs Spain in the semi-finals.
