The Nike Air Flightposite III is officially back, but not in the colorway most fans expected nor wanted to see. Spotted during Nike’s Spring/Summer product preview in Paris during Fashion Week, the beloved early-2000s basketball model has surfaced in a striking pink/silver/black color scheme, marking the first-ever look at a Retro edition of the sneaker.
We can confirm that original colorways such as the Black/Royal are also in the pipeline, but Nike has surprisingly chosen this vibrant execution to reintroduce the silhouette to the public to grab the most attention as possible.
The Air Flightposite III remains one of the most celebrated performance basketball shoes from Nike’s early-2000s catalog, particularly among players and collectors who gravitated toward the brand’s futuristic design language under the Alpha Project. Given the silhouette’s loyal following, there is some strong anticipation around its return and understandable mixed reviews to this pink colorway.
The choice reflects Nike’s broader approach to archival product, particularly when it comes to appealing to newer audiences in the fashion crowd. Rather than simply recreating the past, the Sportswear division is going beyond boundaries and doing what it can to reinterpret the sneaker in unusual colorway choices and rebuilt executions like the square-toe Air Force 1 and Air Bakin’ Low.
The Air Flightposite III’s return isn’t happening until Spring 2027, so stay tuned and enjoy this first look for now.
