The UConn men’s and women’s basketball teams aren’t just dominant on the court– they’re also excelling in the classroom.
The Huskies hoops teams were were among seven UConn programs that posted perfect multi-year academic progress rate scores, the NCAA announced Tuesday. Both programs also posted perfect scores for the 2024-25 academic year, along with 11 other UConn programs.
Multi-year scores include data from the 2021-22 academic year through 2024-25. UConn’s overall institutional APR for the 2024-25 academic year stood at 991 out of 1000.
The other teams that recorded perfect multi-year scores were women’s cross country, women’s ice hockey, women’s soccer, women’s tennis and women’s volleyball. Baseball, men’s golf, men’s ice hockey, men’s soccer, men’s track and field and softball all recorded perfect scores in 2024-25.
“The pursuit of excellence is embedded in everything we do at UConn Athletics,” UConn athletic director David Benedict said in a statement. “These APR results — including perfect scores — reinforce that our student-athletes are succeeding where it matters most: in the classroom and in competition. This is a credit to their dedication and to the coaches and staff who support them every single day.”
Fourteen UConn teams posted multi-year APR scores of 980 or better.
Individual Team scores can be found on the NCAA Website
Each academic year, every Division I sports team’s APR is calculated using a simple and consistent formula. Scholarship student-athletes can earn 1 point for staying on course for a degree in their chosen major and 1 point for being retained (or graduating) at the end of each academic term. For schools that do not offer athletics scholarships, recruited student-athletes are tracked.
