[tagTerence Crawford[/tag] and Canelo Alvarez are set to clash in one of the biggest fights in boxing’s long history later this year.
The pound-for-pound superstars have been negotiating a showdown for quite some time now, with Riyadh Season’s Turki Alalshikh at the forefront of discussions.
The fight was initially speculated shortly after ‘Bud’ dethroned WBA light middleweight champion Israil Madrimov last August, adding 154lbs to the other three weight divisions that he has captured world titles in.
Shortly after Crawford’s triumph over Madrimov last summer, Canelo made another successful defence of his WBC, WBA and WBO super middleweight titles, picking up another comprehensive win in a division that he has dominated since 2021.
As both fighters gear up for what could be the biggest fight of their respective careers, the 39-year-old two-weight undisputed champion has already spoken out and sent a message of warning Canelo,
Speaking on social media, Crawford vowed to ‘shock the world’ and claim victory over the Mexican superstar when they finally clash.
“Ima shock the world watch!!! The best is yet to come. I had it in my back pocket this whole time.”
Although he remains confident, it is going to be a monumental task for ‘Bud’, who will have to move up two weight divisions ahead of facing the 34-year-old Mexican, who has enjoyed tremendous success during his campaign at super middleweight, defeating the likes of Gennady Golovkin, Caleb Plant and Jermell Charlo.
Although an official announcement is yet to be made on the highly anticipated dream fight between Crawford and Canelo, they are expected to finally lock horns in September, with Las Vegas emerging as the probable location.
