Arsenal move close to signing “England’s Ousmane Dembele”

Heading to Budapest for the Champions League final just a matter of days after lifting the Premier League title, Arsenal are in a fabulous position heading into the summer transfer window.

Have the Gunners ever been in a better place? Turn down a move to the north Londoners in the forthcoming months at your peril. Very few are going to be happy to reject a move to Mikel Arteta’s side.

That surely puts them in a fine position to sign Morgan Rogers from Aston Villa. Despite winning a trophy of his own under Unai Emery, the Europa League, if Arsenal come calling he will certainly be intrigued by the prospect of a switch.

Reports this week have outlined how Rogers is one of the club’s chief targets for the market, though he will cost an arm and a leg.

Arsenal looking at signing Morgan Rogers-esque talent

If Andrea Berta and Co are able to conclude a deal for Rogers it would be a serious statement of intent as they go about improving a squad ready to win the Premier League back to back.

According to reports this week, Arsenal have already held talks with the attacker’s camp as they work out the conditions of a prospective deal. Further claims suggest Berta has actually made it his ‘personal mission’ to bring the England international to the capital this summer.

That said, with a £100m price tag being muttered by Villa, it will not be an easy deal to complete.

It’s why other options are being targeted including the cheaper and out of favour Marcus Rashford at Manchester United.

While Rogers and Rashford would very much be for the present, Arsenal are also looking at future proofing the squad and are attempting to do so by signing Leicester City wonderkid Jeremie Monga.

A few weeks ago it was revealed by one of Arsenal’s top sources that they are in talks to lure the player away from the City Ground following their relegation to League One.

Now, it looks like they are closing in on his signature. According to TEAMtalk, the Londoners are now said to be ‘increasingly confident’ of signing the player.

Despite competition from Manchester United and Manchester City, Arsenal are now in a ‘very strong’ position to land the 16-year-old and are pushing aggressively behind the scenes to conclude a deal ASAP.

Because of his age, Monga hasn’t signed professional terms with Leicester yet, meaning Arsenal could sign him for a compensation fee that is unlikely to break the bank.

Why Monga could be Arsenal’s answer to Morgan Rogers

There is a reason that Rogers tops Arsenal’s shopping list heading into the upcoming transfer market.

In with a chance of starting ahead of Real Madrid’s Jude Bellingham for England at the World Cup, the former PFA Young Player of the Year winner has been dazzling in the Premier League for two and a half years now.

Since being let go by Manchester City, he has come via Middlesbrough in the Championship to star under Unai Emery. He is easily one of the finest talents playing for a club outside of your classic big six clubs.

In back to back seasons, Rogers has scored 14 goals in all competitions. He registered 16 assists in 2024/25 and amassed a further 12 this season.

He’s got an immense skillset, capable of playing through the middle or on the flanks. Monga is more of a wide player by trade but he certainly posssesses some similar traits and characteristics.

Described as “England’s Ousmane Dembele” by Como scout Ben Mattinson, the renowned analyst describes the Leicester City sensation as “pacy and an excellent dribbler”. Mattinson further outlines that Monga is a “deadly finisher and both-footed ball striker.”

Well, it’s clear to see where the Rogers comparisons stem from. The Villa sensation has a remarkble burst of acceleration to get away from his marker, much like Monga, while he’s brilliant in tight spaces, evading challenges with ease. That’s not to forget he’s a deadly player when you get him close to the penalty area.

Considering what the young Foxes winger has already achieved in the senior game, it feels hard not to hype him up. Only two players have made their Premier League debuts at a younger age; Max Dowman and Ethan Nwaneri. That’s the sort of company Monga is sitting among right now.

9) Joel Drakes-Thomas (Palace)

10) Gary McSheffrey (Coventry)

Dowman and Nwaneri have continued to star at the highest level of the game but for the Leicester prodigy, he has been a victim of their downfall in recent years.

He scored just once and supplied two assists in the Championship this season but that is not to be sniffed at. Do not forget his age. The fact he’s even playing senior football is incredible.

Arsenal supporters will hope and pray they can get a deal over the line for Rogers this summer but should they not, Monga would be an excellent capture, someone who could well become their answer to the Aston Villa man in time.

He is not ready to start games for the Gunners just yet but his potential is immense.
