Brock Lesnar retires after WrestleMania 42 loss

LAS VEGAS — In a stunning and emotional moment at WrestleMania 42, Brock Lesnar appears to have officially retired from professional wrestling following a decisive loss to rising star Oba Femi on Sunday night.

The match, held at Allegiant Stadium, ended in dominant fashion as Femi overpowered the 48-year-old veteran, pinning him after delivering his finishing move, the “Fall From Grace.” The victory marked a breakout moment for Femi while signaling the end of an era for one of WWE’s most dominant figures.

Following the loss, Lesnar remained in the ring as the Las Vegas crowd erupted into chants of “Thank you, Brock.” In a symbolic gesture long associated with retirement in wrestling, he removed his gloves and boots and left them in the center of the ring before embracing longtime manager Paul Heyman.

Lesnar, visibly emotional, kissed the canvas before exiting, drawing a standing ovation from fans in attendance.

The defeat caps off a legendary career that spanned more than two decades across multiple combat sports. A former NCAA Division I champion and UFC heavyweight champion, Lesnar became one of WWE’s biggest attractions after debuting in 2002, going on to win multiple world championships and headline numerous WrestleMania events.

Sunday’s result also served as a symbolic “passing of the torch,” with WWE positioning Femi as a future centerpiece following his emphatic victory over “The Beast Incarnate.”

While the retirement appears definitive, some reports suggest the door may not be entirely closed on Lesnar’s in-ring future, with speculation already swirling about a potential final appearance later this year.

For now, however, one of the most dominant and recognizable figures in professional wrestling history has seemingly taken his final bow.
