Andrei Arlovski is a true-born fighter who deserves all of the plaudits coming his way after his successful stint in bare-knuckle boxing.
It almost seemed like the entire combat sports community rallied behind Arlovski’s Oscar-worthy life story, which has now added another chapter with his latest BKFC title win. At his age, most fighters are retired, out of shape, and enjoying life away from competition, but not ‘The Pitbull’.
Not only did the Belarusian capture BKFC gold, overthrowing a man unbeaten in the promotion, all while recently celebrating his 47th birthday, but he also did so after beating cancer three times. Being a fighter isn’t for everyone. Being an elite, top-level competitor in the UFC is a feat not many get to achieve. But doing all this and still beating cancer on three separate occasions is unheard of.
Throughout his almost three decades competing in combat sports, Andrei Arlovski has always been an admirable fighter. Earning the fans’ praise, one man who was happy to see the former UFC champion succeed was Conor McGregor.
“Andrei Arlovski, three-time cancer survivor, is now the Bareknuckle HW World Champ!” McGregor wrote on social media following Arlovski’s win over Ben Rothwell. “Hero is an understatement!”
In the aftermath of his win over Rothwell, Arlovski shared a powerful message to the world.
The heavy hitter insisted that if he can overcome cancer three times and still recognize his dream of continued success in his career, then so can anybody else. Arlovski would go on to urge those suffering from the disease not to give up, using his time in the spotlight to share a touching message to those listening.
“Guys, people who are in the battle right now with the f***ing cancer, don’t f***ing give up,” Arlovski said.
“I’m a great f***ing example. Three-time cancer survivor. Keep f***ing fighting. Life is beautiful.”
