Which Clubs Could Break Their Premier League Points Record in 2024-25?

Bournemouth have become the first team to set a new club record Premier League points tally in 2024-25, but will any other teams join them?

Bournemouth’s 0-0 draw at Crystal Palace saw the Cherries secure their best-ever Premier League points tally. That single point was enough to take them to 49 points for the 2024-25 campaign, one more than their previous best of 48 points last season in Andoni Iraola’s first campaign in charge.

Bournemouth now have five games to improve that total even further, with the next target undoubtedly to secure enough to qualify for European competition in 2025-26.

So far, they are the only club to break their Premier League seasonal points record, but two more clubs are close to joining them.

Both Crystal Palace and Fulham are just five points away from equalling their best tallies in a Premier League season.

Oliver Glasner’s side will have the opportunity to get even closer to achieving their goal with a midweek trip to the Emirates to face Arsenal. Liverpool will be hoping the Eagles do secure all three points in north London, as it would hand the Premier League title to the Reds.

Palace have won 49 points in three previous seasons – 2023-24, 2018-19 and in the inaugural Premier League campaign in 1992-93. That 49-point tally in the inaugural Premier League season remains the most secured by a team to be relegated in the competition, albeit in a 42-game campaign.

Fulham won 53 points in 2008-09 on the way to securing their best-ever Premier League finish (7th) under Roy Hodgson. Current boss Marco Silva has led the Cottagers to 48 points from 33 games so far, with five points needed across their final five matches of the season to equal that record.

Their next Premier League game comes against bottom club Southampton, but one of Saints’ 11 points this season did come against Fulham at Craven Cottage back in December thanks to a goalless draw.

At the other end of the scale, Leicester City’s disastrous season, which led to relegation being confirmed at the weekend following a 1-0 defeat to Liverpool, is a far cry from their sensational 2015-16 campaign.

Arguably the biggest shock in Premier League history, Leicester’s Premier League title in 2015-16 saw them win the league with 81 points, which is 63 more than they currently have in 2024-25 with five games left to play. That deficit is the biggest of all 20 Premier League clubs this season.

Manchester United aren’t far off, however. It’s already been determined that this season will be United’s lowest points tally in a Premier League season, with a maximum of 52 possible if they were to somehow win their final five games in a row.

Ruben Amorim’s side are currently on 38 points, which is 54 off their seasonal best of 92 set back in 1993-94. It’s 37 away from their best points tally in a 38-game season, set in 1999-00 (91).
